The Boston Police Department is a Full Service Law Enforcement Agency providing 24/7 protection to all persons and property within the City of Boston. The officers of the Boston Police Department are committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all persons who reside and visit our great city. The Boston Police Department consists of 6 officers and 2 K-9 Teams providing Canine resources to all agencies within Thomas County and surrounding areas.
The Mission of the Boston Police Department is to provide a transparent, professional, and honest service to all citizens, visitors, and patrons of the City of Boston regardless of race, creed, or nationality. All while maintaining the highest degree of integrity and accountability with every encounter.

Charles Pettus
Chief of Police
With over 17 years of Public Safety Experience, Chief Pettus brings a vast array of knowledge and experience to the Boston Police Department. A second-generation Law Enforcement Officer, Chief Pettus seeks to ensure that all citizens, visitors, and passersby are treated fairly and equally. Holding Instructor Certifications in Use of Force, Tactical Medical, Speed Detection, Active Shooter Response, TASER, Less Lethal Force Options, and several other areas of Public Safety, Chief Pettus is often found mentoring or teaching other officers to ensure that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed and do their job safely, legally, and ethically. Chief In addition to his role as the Chief of Police, Chief Pettus is a member of the Thomas County/ Thomasville SWAT Team, Assistant Coordinator for the Southern Regional Traffic Enforcement Network, the Committee Chair of Traffic Safety Committee for the the Georgia Association of Chief’s of Police. A member of the GACP, International Association of Chief’s of Police, Georgia Gang Investigators Association and IADLEST. Chief Pettus strives to remain up-to date on the latest policy and procedural guidance to ensure that his department runs professionally and well trained, but in a manner that is inclusive of all persons regardless of race, color, creed, or nationality.
