The Boston Police Department is a Full Service Law Enforcement Agency providing 24/7 protection to all persons and property within the City of Boston. The officers of the Boston Police Department are committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all persons who reside and visit our great city. The Boston Police Department consists of 6 officers and 2 K-9 Teams providing Canine resources to all agencies within Thomas County and surrounding areas.
The Mission of the Boston Police Department is to provide a transparent, professional, and honest service to all citizens, visitors, and patrons of the City of Boston regardless of race, creed, or nationality. All while maintaining the highest degree of Professionalism, Integrity and Accountability with every encounter.

Charles Pettus
Chief of Police
Chief Pettus brings more than 19 years of distinguished public safety experience to his role as Chief of Police for the Boston Police Department. A second-generation law enforcement officer, he is dedicated to ensuring every individual—resident, visitor, or passerby—is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
Chief Pettus holds numerous instructor certifications, including Use of Force, Tactical Medicine, Medical, Speed Detection, DUI Detection, Active Shooter Response, TASER and Less-Lethal Force Options. He is committed to officer development, placing a strong emphasis on training, mentorship, and preparedness to ensure officers serve their community safely, ethically, and effectively.
In addition to his leadership role, Chief Pettus serves on the Thomas County/Thomasville SWAT Team, is the Assistant Coordinator for the Southern Regional Traffic Enforcement Network, and chairs the Traffic Safety Committee for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Georgia Gang Investigators Association, and the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST).
Chief Pettus is committed to advancing modern policing practices and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism while fostering an inclusive environment that serves all individuals equally.
